Western Sizzlin was started back in 1962 in Augusta, Georgia.  The founder was Nick Pascarella and he created the FlameKist steak for the first time.  In 1966 Nick began to sell restaurant franchises of Western Sizzlin nationwide and they started opening new locations all over the place.  There are over 125 locations in 19 different states.  They are basically in the southern states, but there are plans to expand across the entire nation.

Western Sizzlin is well-known for the unique way they cook their steaks.  This concept is known as the FlameKist steak and the process locks in the flavor as the steak is seared on both sides to perfection.  They only use the finest steaks and they specially season them with a product they call Gold Dust.  They also serve many chicken and seafood entrees, with country vegetables, fresh and hot breads, and desserts as well.  They have even expanded into a buffet style restaurant with some of their locations.

Western Sizzlin offers a restaurant franchising opportunity for those that can commit to the location full time and can be actively involved in the restaurant operation.  They also require a $30,000 franchise fee for the first location and $10,000 per location after that.  The franchisee must have a minimum net worth of $1 million and at least $300,000 of it has to be available in liquid assets.  The royalty fee is 2% of the gross revenues and they also charge $250 a month for advertising.  The range for the initial investment is from $860,000 all the way up to $3.1 million depending on the location and the size of them.  They offer both single-unit and multi-unit options for the restaurant franchisee and they have many areas ready for development.
