Miami Subs Grill Restaurant Franchise
Miami Subs Grill was founded by Gus Boulis after he retired from the restaurant business. Then, in 1980 he opened a restaurant that later expanded into the Miami Subs Grill. The company expanded aggressively through the 1990s and went nationwide as well. They chose locations that were not as typical like schools, rest areas, and airports. In 1998 they agreed to co-brand with Arthur Treacher’s fish and chips, however, this plan failed. In 1999 Nathan’s famous bought the chain for $14.4 million and brought both brands under the same corporate umbrella. At the time of the purchase there were about 175 locations and the chain struggled due to management issues and was sold to a private investment group for $3.3 million in 2007. There were 59 locations at the time of this sale and many new locations have opened.
Miami Subs Grill serves many items including Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches, Pizzas, chicken wings, salads, burgers, pitas, seafood, hot dogs, chicken, hot and cold subs, breakfast, desserts, and beverages. They also serve platters for catering and they are most well-known for the variety of menu items and the Philly Cheese Steaks. They are a fast casual type of restaurant and have a south beach theme to all the locations across the nation.
The Miami Subs Grill company offers restaurant franchise opportunities in three types. They have a Miami Subs Pizza & Grill Restaurant & Sports Bar, A Miami Subs Pizza & Grill, and a Miami Subs Pizza & Grill Express as well. These range in size from 300 square feet to 5,000 square feet. In order to open any of the franchise options a franchisee must have a net worth of at least $350,000 and pay the one time franchise fee of $30,000. The franchise fee is less for the Express options, however. There is also a royalty fee of 6% of the monthly gross sales and the franchisee must pay 3% of their monthly gross fees into the advertising fund as well.
