HuHot Mongolian Grill was started in 1999 in Missoula, Montana by the Vap family. Since they had already had so much success with the Godfather’s Pizza franchises that they started they decided to expand the HuHot Mongolian Grill with franchising as well.  They opened the first franchise store in Omaha, Nebraska in 2002 and are now growing faster than any other Mongolian grill concept in the United States.  They are focused on expanding into the international market very soon and they are still growing here in the United States as well.  Currently there are 39 HuHot Mongolian Grill in 14 states.  Only four of them are corporate owned and the rest of them are all franchises.

The HuHot Mongolian Grill features a stir fry menu that allows you to create your own meal and have it cooked right in front of you.  They also have many favorites that are already chosen for you if you prefer along with many desserts as well.  The customer gets to choose the meat, sauce, vegetables, and anything else from the food bar for their stir fry.  Then, it is cooked over the grill for you and ready in just a few minutes.  This is a very healthy and different way to eat from many other concepts out there.

HuHot Mongolian Grill is interested in expanding through more franchises and this means there is opportunity for those that have a net worth of at least $1.5 million and liquid assets of at least a half a million dollars.  They should also be able to get financing of between $300,000 and $500,000.  Franchisees will pay a $35,000 franchise fee per location and a royalty fee of 5% of the gross sales.  Franchisees also have to pay a 0.5% marketing fee to help with national marketing.  The required initial investment is estimated between $782,000 and $982,000.
